چکیده

A wide range of wireless system developments require knowledge of the distribution of electromagnetic fields from various sources in humans. As experimental assessment is ethically unacceptable, high resolution numerical dosimetry is needed. The FiniteDifference Time-Domain method is the most appropriate due to its simplicity and versatility. Reduction in demands on computational resources can be achieved using subgridding techniques. This paper rigorously introduces frequency dependency to one of the most promising subgridding techniques, Huygens SubGridding. The validity of the Huygens Surface in lossy media as well as on the physical interface is intensively studied.

A Dissipation Theory for Three-Dimensional FDTD with Application to Stability Analysis and Subgridding

The finite-difference time-domain algorithm is a popular numerical method for solving electromagnetic problems. FDTD simulations can suffer from instability due to the explicit nature of the method. Enforcement of stability can be particularly challenging in scenarios where a setup is composed of multiple components, such as differently refined FDTD grids, macromodels, advanced boundary conditi...

A Novel Nonuniform Subgridding Scheme for Fdtd Using an Optimal Interpolation Technique

Finite-Difference Time-Domain (FDTD) subgridding schemes can significantly improve efficiency of various electromagnetic circuit simulations. However, numerous subgridding schemes suffer from issues associated with stability, efficiency, and material traverse capability. These issues limit general applicability of FDTD subgridding schemes to realistic problems. Herein, a robust nonuniform subgr...

Coupling of Electromagnetic Time-Domain Simulators with DSP/Subgridding Techniques for the Adaptive Modeling of Wireless Packaging Structures

The modeling of packaged modules that involve irregular metal shapes and lossy, dispersive materials requires design algorithms that combine the computational efficiency with the numerical accuracy over wide frequency bands. This paper presents the formulation of a hybrid FDTD method integrating a quasi-static subgridding algorithm and employing digital predictors. Three techniques of DSP-based...

Analysis and Compensation of Numerical Dispersion in the FDTD Method for Layered, Anisotropic Media

In this work, we investigate the effects of numerical dispersion in the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) algorithm for layered, anisotropic media. We first derive numerical dispersion relations for diagonally anisotropic media (corresponding to an FDTD reference frame coinciding with the principal axes of a biaxial media). In addition, we incorporate the discretization effects on the reflec...

BOR-FDTD subgridding based on finite element principles

In this paper a recently developed provably passive and stable 3D FDTD subgridding technique, based on finite elements principles, is extended to Body-Of-Revolution (BOR) FDTD. First, a suitable choice of basis functions is presented together with the mechanism to assemble them into an overall mesh consisting of coarse and fine mesh cells. Invoking appropriate masslumping concepts then leads to...
